Connect4Better (Cee4Bee) is a social mobility charity that exists to close the exposure gap, connecting underserved and underrepresented communities to the people, places, possibilities and opportunities that can change the direction of their lives.

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.
I co-founded Connect4Better — known as Cee4Bee — from a conviction that talent is everywhere but access to opportunity is not.
Cee4Bee creates the exposure, connections and opportunities that help people broaden what they believe is possible. One conversation, one opportunity or one open door can change the trajectory of a life.

The exposure gap
A shortage of pictures, not of talent.
Spend time with young people anywhere in London and you meet ability, energy and curiosity in abundance. What differs from one postcode to the next is what they have been shown. That difference is the exposure gap.
It can be closed by ordinary people doing ordinary things: explaining what they do, offering an hour of mentoring, making an introduction. Cee4Bee exists to make those things happen on purpose.
How the gap closes
Three things that change a trajectory.

Exposure
Seeing what is out there. Meeting people in roles and sectors you had not considered, and hearing honestly how they got there.

Connection
Knowing someone who will take your call. A mentor, an adviser or a peer who can explain how things work and vouch for you when it counts.

A real way in. The placement, the interview, the first role or project that turns a possibility into a track record.

Why it matters to me
The proof that the message holds.
I know what it is to arrive somewhere without a network and have to work out the unwritten rules alone. I also know how much difference it made when someone took the time to explain them.
Cee4Bee grew out of wanting more people to have that second experience and fewer to have only the first.
It is easy to talk about potential and opportunity in the abstract. Cee4Bee is where those ideas have to work in practice, with real people and real outcomes.
Cee4Bee is not separate from my wider work. It is where many of the ideas around exposure, opportunity, leadership, development and becoming more have been tested in practice.
The lessons from Cee4Bee continue to inform my writing, speaking, leadership and advisory work.
